Harold Schoenhaus, DPM

Harold Schoenhaus, DPM is a board-certified foot, rearfoot, and reconstructive ankle surgeon by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a past president and current fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds staff appointments and operating privileges at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital and Chestnut Hill hospital. Dr Schoenhaus' research and clinical interests are in biomechanics, pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery, including joint replacement surgery and pediatric podiatric surgery. Moreover, Dr Schoenhaus is the surgical editor for PRESENT e-Learning Systems, an online medical education and networking resource dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals throughout the world. He is a nationally recognized lecturer and pioneer in the field of lower extremity pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery. Dr Schoenhaus has authored several landmark articles in peer-reviewed journals and books. In 2015 Dr Schoenhaus was the recipient of the Gallery of Success Award from the Temple University.


Robert Frykberg, DPM, MPH

Robert G Frykberg, DPM, MPH is a graduate of the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1976. Dr Frykberg went on to complete his residency training at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He served as the President of the Massachusetts Podiatric Medical Society and a Member of the Board of Registration in Podiatry. From 1992 to 1994, he attended the Harvard School of Public Health and graduated with a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in quantitative methods. After 21 years of private practice, Dr Frykberg accepted the position as Clinical Dean of the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery prior to moving to Phoenix. After 15 years of dedicated service to our Veterans, Dr Frykberg has decided to retire from his role as Chief of Podiatry at the Phoenix VA Medical Center and as Director of the Phoenix VA Medical Center Podiatric Residency Program. He continues to hold the academic rank of Professor, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and Adjunct Professor, Midwestern University Program in Podiatric Medicine. His research and writing interests have included all facets of lower extremity disorders, but are specifically focused on diabetic foot ulcers, infections, Charcot foot, and wound care. The author of nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications, he has also been the Editor of two textbooks: The High Risk Foot in Diabetes Mellitus (1991) and the Diabetic Charcot Foot (2010). His expertise in the Diabetic Foot translated into hundreds of speaking invitations nationally and internationally with numerous lecture engagements in China, India, Russia, South America, the UK, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, Italy, and across Europe.

David Bernstein, DPM joined his father in 1981 after completing his residency program, at Hayward Vesper Hospital, Hayward, CA. He practiced with his brother, Philip Bernstein, DPM since he joined us in 1983. Dr Bernstein is currently the Chief of Podiatry for Main Line Heath System and Residency for The Bryn Mawr PMSR 36 which has 9 residents.

Christopher K Bromley, DPM

Christopher Bromley, DPM currently serves as the Department Chair of Foot and Ankle Surgery of Vassar Medical Center. Dr Bromley is the managing partner of a large multi-specialty group in upstate NY. Dr Bromley specialty within the group is Surgery, Sports Medicine and Homeopathy. Dr Bromley has been passionate about nutrition and complementary medicine since entering private practice. He completed his surgical residency in 1992 in Baltimore, MD. His training included such prestigious hospitals as the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins. Currently, Dr Bromley serves as a national speaker and consultant for several companies specializing in Foot and Ankle Surgery. When not in the office and on the podium, Dr Bromley is an on-track performance driving instructor and motorcycle track day instructor. Dr Bromley is very proud of his three children Sarah, Kent, and Alexander.

Maryellen Brucato, DPM

A graduate of the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, Maryellen Brucato, DPM remains active in research and academics. She lectures across the country on a variety of topics relating to foot and ankle surgery. She holds an attending position at Morristown Medical Center and Hackensack University Medical Center where she is able to teach the residents clinically as well as academically. Dr Brucato has experience in treating a variety of different types of patients including athletes, pediatric patients, geriatric patients, and diabetics.

Dr Garoufalis is a past president of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association, a Past President of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and is the Immediate Past President of the International Federation of Podiatrists. Dr Garoufalis is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and American Board of Podiatric Medicine with Added Qualification in Wound Care and Limb Preservation. He is a Founding Fellow of American Society of Podiatric Surgeons and a Fellow of American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine. He is also a Certified Wound Specialist by the American Board of Wound Management. Dr Garoufalis is a Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is a noted authored of many articles and, as an invited speaker, has accepted speaking engagements for educational lectures, seminars, and workshops, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of topics pertinent to wound care, podiatric medicine and surgery, and practice management. He is considered a Key Opinion Leader in many areas.

Marlena Jbara, MD

Certified by the American Board of Radiology in 2001, Marlena Jbara, MD has served as a member of the Bone and Joint division of Radiology at Staten Island University Hospital since joining the team in 2008. In addition to her expertise in generalized orthopaedic radiology, Dr Jbara has been an innovator in designing and implementing continuing medical education programs dedicated to podiatrists, foot and ankle surgeons and residents in radiology, podiatry, orthopedics, and emergency medicine. Dr Jbara, a summa cum laude graduate of the BA-MD Program at the State University of New York, is a leader in Podiatric Radiology, developing curricula for Podiatric Radiology academic programs and delivering Grand rounds and New York Roentgen Society lectures on Osteomyelitis in the Diabetic Foot. Currently she holds a CME-accredited program monthly in Podiatric Radiology that serves the Northwell Health System. She has published articles and book chapters on the shoulder, knee, and ankle, performs reviews for Diabetic Foot Ankle and remains active in clinical medical research. Her current podiatric research interests include MRI evaluation of the diabetic foot and classification of Pes Cavus.

Warren S Joseph, DPM

Warren S Joseph, DPM is a podiatric and infectious disease attending at Roxborough Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He is a specialist in the treatment of lower extremity infectious diseases. Dr Joseph received his podiatric degree, magna cum laude, from WM Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. Dr Joseph completed his postgraduate training in podiatric medicine/surgery at St Joseph's Hospital, and a fellowship in infectious diseases at Hahnemann University School of Medicine, both in Philadelphia. Dr Joseph is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and sits on the IDSA Diabetic Foot Infection Guidelines Committee. He is also certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, and currently serves as Editor of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr Joseph lectures extensively and his presentations have focused on the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections of the lower extremity. He has authored several papers and book chapters in the field of lower extremity infections and is the author of the Handbook of Lower Extremity Infections, now in its third edition.

Harris L Klear, DPM has been engaged in the practice of podiatry since 1973. His specialties include foot orthopedics, reconstructive surgery, foot and ankle problems, and sports related medicine. Dr Klear hails from the Philadelphia region where he attended the esteemed Central High School and Temple University. Dr Klear received his D.P.M. degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine now Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Following graduation, Dr Klear served as a surgical resident at Parkview Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr Klear has served the Burlington County, New Jersey area throughout his career. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is active in the residency training program and serves on the Residency Selection Committee of Cooper Hospital which is charged with the responsibility of choosing new residents. While engaged in private practice, Dr Klear has maintained his ties to the national podiatry profession as a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. In addition, Dr Klear has been a Board-Certified podiatrist for over 33 years. He is also actively involved with the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine's Alumni Committee as a Board member.

He is a Fellow Faculty of Podiatric Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr Rogers has authored over 150 peer reviewed manuscripts or book chapters and focuses on creating systems of excellence for diabetic foot care and limb salvage.

Jonathan Rouse, DPM

Jonathan Rouse, DPM currently practices in Omaha, Nebraska. He is currently fellowship faculty and is involved with student rotations as well. He is a graduate of the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Long Island, NY. As a former residency director and former Chief of Podiatry, Dr Rouse understands student and resident needs. Dr Rouse is dual board certified by ABPM and ABFAS. Dr Rouse serves on multiple committees within the ABPM, as he believes in their mission statement of Certifying Today's Podiatrist. He is the current young physician liaison for students and residents, so don't be afraid to reach out for anything you may need!

Jarrod Shapiro, DPM is a Board-Certified podiatric foot and ankle physician and surgeon who has been in practice for over 10 years. Megan Smith, CO received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) in 2008 and then went on to receive her Certificate in Orthotics from Northwestern. She is currently the Director of Clinical Research for Surestep. Her research focuses on pediatric development, orthotic solutions, new technology and gait analysis. Megan has spoken at several national conventions, including AOPA, APPTAC and ACPOC. Megan regularly presents to and educates orthotists and physical therapists across the country about pediatric development, gait deviations and orthotic solutions.

Robert Jay Snyder, DPM, MSc, MBA, CWSP

Robert Snyder, DPM, MSc, MBA, CWSP, FFPM RCPS (Glasg) is Professor and Director of Clinical Research and Fellowship Director in Wound Care and Research at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine. He has created and implemented the first post residency Wound Management and Research Fellowship for podiatric medical schools. He is certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is also a board certified wound specialist. Dr Snyder is past-president of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care and past-president of the American Board of Wound Management, a certifying body for wound care specialists. In addition to his doctorate, he holds an MSc in Wound Healing and Tissue Science from Cardiff University College of Medicine. His expertise at Cardiff, Wales, was further acknowledged with an appointment as Honorary Senior Lecturer. To constantly expand his knowledge and stay current in all aspects of healthcare, he is completing an MBA in Health Management. Dr Snyder is a key opinion leader and sought after speaker, lecturing extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Dr Snyder has published several book chapters and over 165 papers in peer reviewed and trade journals on wound care and was the recipient of the Dr Robert Warriner Memorial Award for excellence in wound management. Dr Snyder serves on the editorial advisory boards of Ostomy Wound Management, Section Editor for Wounds and as a periodic reviewer for the Lancet and NEJM. He has been a Principal Investigator on more than 50 randomized controlled trials for innovative wound healing modalities and products. In 2018, Dr Snyder was inducted into the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow as Faculty Fellow in Podiatric Medicine.

Michael Trepal, DPM is a Professor of Surgery at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. In addition, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at New York Medical College and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at SUNY Downstate. Dr Trepal serves as Residency Director for the SUNY Downstate Podiatry Residency. He has published multiple scientific articles and has contributed to many textbooks.

Michael Troiano, DPM is a 2004 graduate Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. He completed residency at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is in private practice at the Center for Foot and Ankle Disorders in Philadelphia. He is Adjunct Clinical Professor at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in the Department of Surgery, he teaches Biomechanics, and MRI reading. Dr Troiano is a board certified in foot, rear foot, and reconstructive ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds staff and teaching appointments at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital, Temple University Hospital, Penn Wound Care Center, Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, Abington Memorial Hospital and the Foot and Ankle Specialty Center. He takes foot and ankle trauma call at Temple University Hospital and Penn- Presbyterian Medical Center, is a director of the Penn Wound Care Center and is a nationally and internationally recognized lecturer. He has authored and co-authored several journals, articles, and chapters published in various peer reviewed journals and books.

Marie L Williams, DPM, DHL

Marie Williams, DPM, DHL is board certified in foot and ankle surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr Williams was the first clinical dean at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and is currently an Adjunct Professor for the school. Dr Williams has been in private practice since 1984. She is currently the Chairman of the Department of Podiatry at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. She has been involved in residency training since 1986 and a Program Director in Podiatric Surgery and Medicine since 1988. Dr Williams is a speaker in the field of foot and ankle surgery as well as limb salvage. She has published several articles on the healing of complex wounds and limb salvage, while also authoring a chapter: Bone Infections in "Foot and Ankle Radiology". In August 2014, Dr Williams was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts along with her teammates from Immaculata College. Their team, the Mighty Macs, captured three consecutive Championships. They were considered trailblazers for women sports, and in the 70s they help bring about Title 9 and equality for women in sports. In June 2015 they received the trailblazer award in the women’s basketball hall of fame. Dr Williams was recently requested to be a Keynote Speaker for Immaculata University and received the Doctor of Humane Letters for her humanitarian efforts in May 2018.
